| Permitting and Enforcement Branch (PEB)
Permit writers and inspectors in the Permitting & Enforcement Branch work with facilities in the District that emit air contaminants, to make sure they comply with all air quality laws and regulations. PEB is responsible for:
Permit Issuance - The District reviews designs for new pollution sources and design modifications for existing sources. DDOE issues permits allowing sources to emit limited and specified amounts of pollution as allowed by air quality laws and regulations.
Regulatory Enforcement - Our staff inspects and monitors sources to ensure compliance with permits. We also collect fees for pollution emitted, investigate air quality complaints, and take action when regulations are violated.
Asbestos Licensing - The Asbestos Abatement Program ensures that contractors who are removing asbestos do so in a manner that protects the health and safety of the asbestos workers, building occupants and general public.
Small Business Assistance - The Small Business Assistance Program (SBAP) was established to help small businesses understand and comply with air quality regulations.
