DC Fishing License Fees Increase for Residents and Nonresidents

The District Department of the Environment (DDOE) announced that effective January 1, 2007, the Fishing License fee for all who fish in DC waterways will increase by 30 percent. This will be the first license fee increase in 20 years for anglers who fish for the estimated 90 species of fish found in DC waterways. A license is mandatory for anyone who fishes in DC.

Fishing in the District of Columbia is alive and well, with over 10,000 licenses being issued last year. A license can be obtained by contacting the DDOE Fishing License Coordinator at (202) 535-2272 or by visiting any of the 16 vendors in DC, Maryland and Virginia that offer the license.

The new fees are good for one calendar year starting January 1, 2007:
